ChatGPT Ads gets HubSpot, Shopify apps and Sponsored Agents

OpenAI is testing Sponsored Agents, a ChatGPT ad format that lets a user click into a separate, labeled conversation with a business’s own AI agent rather than an outbound link, with select U.S. advertisers, per PPC Land and Search Engine Roundtable. The same September 16 rollout added HubSpot as ChatGPT Ads’ first CRM partner and Shopify as its first ecommerce partner: HubSpot customers can create and track ads without leaving the CRM, and U.S. Shopify merchants can sync catalogs and launch campaigns from the Shopify App Store, with the integration reaching other countries on September 23. Ads Manager also gained separate targeting and reporting for five platforms — Android and iOS apps and web, plus desktop web — and click-attribution windows of 7, 14 or 30 days, up from a fixed one-day window. OpenAI did not disclose pricing for Sponsored Agents or say whether advertisers see transcripts of the agent conversations.

Why it matters: It extends the distribution pattern set by this month's Amazon DSP and Adform deals from buying platforms into the CRM and storefront software marketers already run their day in.
